Marjorie Ann Sjoquist, age 84 of Mankato, died Tuesday morning, March 7, 2006 at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Donohue Sarff officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. Memorials are preferred to the Mankato Lutheran Home.
Marjorie, daughter of Elmer and Ida (Nelson) Haglin, was born on July 12, 1921 in Duluth, Minnesota the eldest of 12 siblings. She graduated from Denfeld High School in Duluth in 1939. She was united in marriage to Daniel A. Sjoquist Sr. on December 10, 1955 in Duluth. Marjorie was a homemaker for her family, including their two children, Daniel and Stacey.
Marjorie was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Janesville, where she was a former Sunday School Superintendent. She was a current member of Grace Lutheran Church. Marjorie enjoyed bible study, singing, and watching the Minnesota Twins. She most of all loved visiting and spending time with her family and her friends.
Marjorie is lovingly survived by her two children, Daniel Sjoquist Jr. and fianc, Lori Tapani and her daughter, Emilee of Coon Rapids, Stacey Straka and husband, Rick of Mankato; two grandchildren, Colby and Maddie Straka; ten siblings, Genevieve Hasselstrom of Crystal, Helen Harman of Marquette, MI, Yvonne (Robert) Davis of Floodwood, Verree Johnson of Fort Myers, FL, Keith (Peggy) Haglin of Duluth, Douglas (Carol) Haglin of Esko, Kay (Jerry) Miller of Lincoln, NE, Lynne (Richard) Kozak of Riceville, IA, Dean (Cindy) Haglin of Duluth, Reid (Lynn) Haglin of Superior, WI; sister-in-law, Donna Haglin of Boulder, CO; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1998, and a brother, Milton in 2005.
