Janette Irene Schave, age 80, of Mankato, died Friday, March 3, 2006 at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, Ohio.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2006 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Joel B. Erickson and Maren Hooper officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Emmons. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at Mankato Mortuary, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Janette was born on August 4, 1925 in Worth County, IA. She was the daughter of John and Ida (Lokken) Dagestad. Janette was a 1943 graduate of Emmons High School and a 1948 graduate of the Navy Nursing Academy in Albert Lea. She was united in marriage to Robert Schave in November of 1953. Janette was employed as a nurse for a wide range of hospitals and retired from Immanuel St. Josephs Hospital in 1991. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato, where she was very involved with the church circle and the Sons of Norway. Janette was very crafty and enjoyed rosemal painting, crocheting, knitting, and quilting. She also enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and adding on to a family tree she had started a while back.
Janette is survived by her two sons, Robert (Rosamie) Schave of St. Peter and William Schave of Horseshoe, N.C.; six grandchildren, Gabriel, Jennifer, Philip, Mark, Farrah, and Jarod Schave; one great-granddaughter, Scotland Mayo; two sisters, Ruth Ranum of Northwood, IA and Betsy Johnson of Newark, OH; two brothers, Palmer (Helen) Dagestad and Ingvald (Eleanor) Dagestad all of Texas; also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers-in-law, Harold Ranum and Robert Johnson; two nephews, John Ranum and Harold Duane Ranum.
