E. Wendell Fleming, age 83, of Mankato, died Monday, February 13, 2006 at the Mankato Lutheran Home.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2006, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal with Rev. Nancy Dreier officiating. Burial will be in Garden City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday. Memorials may be given to the Mankato Lutheran Home.
Wendell was born on August 19, 1922, in Garden City, Minnesota, to Jesse and Luola (Nickerson) Fleming. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1940 and was united in marriage to Marjory Tolberd on August 26, 1950 in Fairmont, Minnesota. Wendell served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army. He was a lifelong farmer in the Garden City area and a member of the Lake Crystal American Legion Post 294. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, sports, farming, spending time with his grandchildren and family.
He is survived by his wife, Marjory Fleming of Mankato; children Kris (Louise) Fleming of Maple Grove, Barbara Taylor of Apple Valley, and Marvin Lewie (Barbara) Fleming of Garden City; six grandsons, Jason, Joshua, Jacob, Jesse (Kate), Christopher (Kelly) Fleming and Ryan Taylor; granddaughter, Lauren Fleming; great-grandson, Robbie Fleming; siblings, Clayton Fleming of Garden City, Darrell (Lu) Fleming of Hanska, Evelyn Buck of North Mankato, and Shirley (Don) Chryst of Albert Lea.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Eunice Bartsch and Betty Prust.
