Dr. David Doc L. Dehen, 67, died Thursday, February 2, 2006 at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Tuesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials are preferred to Northwestern Health Sciences University Remembrance Fund, 2501 W. 84th Street Bloomington, MN, 55431.

David was born January 9, 1939 in Austin, MN to Henry and Rose (Hartman) Dehen. David graduated from De LaSalle High School in 1957. He attended St. Thomas University and graduated from Northwestern Chiropractic College in 1961.

David married Helen Kvasnicka on April 23, 1960. They moved to Mankato in 1965 where David began practicing as a Doctor of Chiropractic.

David served his community in a number of leadership roles. He was mayor of Eagle Lake in 1972-1973. He served as mayor of North Mankato from 1981-1994. He was Nicollet County Commissioner from 2001-2003. David was a past President of the MN Chiropractic Association. He was Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #901 and Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Council #5551. He was past Parish Council President of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Mankato Elks #225. He was an active member of Loyal Order of Moose #1414.

David received the Jaycee Distinguished Service award in 1973. He was MN Chiropractor of the Year in 1975. He received the Book of Golden Deeds award in 1998.

David enjoyed hunting, fishing, cards and the occasional game of chance.

David is survived by his wife, Helen of North Mankato; his son, Mark and daughter-in-law Kim of North Mankato; his daughter, Laura and son-in-law Dan Stefacek of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Jackson and Grace, Tashe and Chauntasia. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
