Marlin V. Johnson, age 69 of Lake George and formerly of Mankato, died Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Joel Erickson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 " 7 p.m., Monday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to the donors choice.
Marlin Johnson was born June 25, 1936 to Rueben and Helen (Nelson) Johnson in Mankato. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1954. Marlin served with the National Guard for many years. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Kaiser on February 6, 1960 in Mankato. Marlin was self employed as a mason in the Mankato area and later moved to Lake George, MN where he and his wife owned and operated a convenience store, gift shop, and diner. He was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church and a member of the American Legion post # 510 of Nicollet.
Marlin enjoyed camping, traveling, snowmobiling, woodworking and square dancing.
Survived by his wife, Bonnie of Lake George, MN; four children, Keith (Cheri) Johnson of Aurora, MN, Kevin (Julie) Johnson of Rice, MN, Karen (Joe) Chester of North Mankato, Kirby Johnson and special friend, Robin Spry of Lake George; nine grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lorraine Johnson of North Mankato; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Stanley.
