Mary Putrah, age 85, a former resident of Garden City, died Tuesday morning, January 31, 2006 at Oaklawn Health Care Center.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at Garden City Christian Church with Rev. Dan Sanford officiating. Burial will be in Garden City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Memorials are preferred to Garden City Christian Church.

Mary Evelyn Putrah was born June 19, 1920 at her family home in Ceresco Township to Sanford and Hazel (Nobles) Cornish. She graduated from Garden City High School. She married Gage Soup Clarence Putrah on November 28, 1939 at the brides home in Ceresco Township. Mary was a homemaker for her family, a nurses aid at Lake Crystal Health Care Center and for 20 years she was a cook at the Garden City School, retiring in 1982.

Mary was a member of Garden City Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening, wintering in Texas, playing cards, dancing and especially spending time with family and friends.

Mary is survived by three children, Kay McCollum and husband, Richard of Laughlin, NV, Nancy Clausen and husband, Jerry of Mankato, Richard Putrah and special friend, Janet McMahon of Mankato; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Robert Cornish and wife, Rosella of Mankato, Ruth Fredericksen, of Lake Crystal, Gordon Cornish and wife, Jana of Vernon Center; two sisters-in-law, Grace Clemons of Apache Junction, AZ, Doris Putrah of Duluth, MN; nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandchild and two sons-in-law.
