Esther D. Resner, age 86, of Mankato, died Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at St. Peter Health Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2006 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato, with Rev. Richard Colletti officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in St. Peter. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Friday at Mankato Mortuary, with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Esther was born on April 13, 1919 in Cleveland, MN. She was the daughter of Lawrence and Elsie (Gravell) Connor. Esther was united in marriage to Lenus Resner on April 15, 1942 in St. Peter. She worked as a secretary at C & N Sales and the original Elks Club as a waitress. Esther, along with her husband Lenus, went on to successfully manage the Cracker Box on Lake Washington, they owned and operated the North Front Street Laundromat in Mankato, and later Esther was a teachers aide at Fitzgerald Middle School.
Esther had a passion for cooking and sewing. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother who was deeply involved with the upbringing of her grandchildren. Esther was a charitable and generous person who gave often and freely to family, friends, and church.
Esther is survived by her three sons, Joseph Joe (Donna) Resner of Rapidan, Larry (Janie) Resner of Champlin, and Jeff (Judy) Resner of North Mankato; seven grandchildren: Mike, Steve (Holly) and Mari Kay Resner, Alisha (Troy) Brink, Lance, Stephanie, and Tyler Resner; seven great-grandchildren: Alexander, Lauren, and Meghan Resner, Elizabeth, Emily, and Ashley Wright, and Olivia Brink; also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lenus in 2002; and brother, Joe.
