Donald O. Barney Cramblit, age 94, of Mankato and formerly of Lake Crystal, died January 29, 2006 at the Mankato Lutheran Home.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church, Lake Crystal with Rev. Dean Nosek, officiating. Burial will be in Garden City Cemetery, Garden City. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Lake Crystal Mortuary with a 6:30 p.m. Masonic Service and will continue one hour before service at church on Thursday. If so desired, memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Lake Crystal.

Don was born August 16, 1911 to Ole Jake and Ivy Pearl (Bennett) Cramblit at Ames, Iowa. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1930. While attending Mankato Teachers College he excelled in basketball and football graduating in 1937. On July 28, 1940 he married Dorotha F. Wilson. In 1937 he went to Mapleton where he coached basketball, taught shop, history and became athletic director. From 1935 until 1976 he officiated basketball and football across southern Minnesota. In 1948 he moved his family to the Fred Wilson farm south of Lake Crystal where he raised turkeys during the 1950s and 60s. Don was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lake Crystal, active in the Masons and the Osmond Temple of the Shrine for which he drove miniature cars for the Shriners until age 88. Don was an avid golfer, card player, and sportsman well into his 80s. In 1995 Don and Dort moved to Amberfield Place in Madelia. In 2001 they moved to Sibley Manor in Mankato.

Don is survived by a daughter, Donnis Deever of Phoenix, AZ; three sons, Dean (Karin) Cramblit of Pinetop, AZ, Dennis (Nancy) Cramblit of North Mankato, Doug (Linda) Cramblit of Mankato; eight grandchildren, Daniel (Diana) Deever, Denese (Nick) Cordaro, Dawn (Russ) Schneider, Darcy, Derek, and Thomas Cramblit, Jo Ana and Andrew Cramblit; five great-grandchildren, Destiny Deever, Brendan Cordaro, Ashley Schneider, Brianna Braun, and Gabriel Braun; sister, Maxine Lindgren of Wayzata; nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, Dorotha on September 30, 2004 and two sisters, Mabel Putrah and Gladys Cramblit.
