Martha Compton

Martha "Marthy" Eliza Compton, age 94, of Mankato died Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Eagle Lake Church of Christ with Rev. Jeff Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Eagle Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Monday.

Martha was born January 21, 1911, to Lewis and Leah (Ott) Compton. She was a lifetime resident of the Mankato area and was a member of Eagle Lake Church of Christ. She spent her life lovingly caring for others. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, and tatting.

Martha is survived by a sister-in-law, June (Allan) Watts of Mankato; nieces and nephews and their families, Sharon (Gary) Hewitt of Madison Lake, Beverly (Jerry) Marquardt of St. Clair, Marcia (Howard) Pugh of Judson, Nadine (Mike) Gatewood of Fairmont, Harlan (Nancy) Compton of St. Louis Park, Bill (Jan) Compton of Arizona, Gordy (Terri) Compton of North Mankato, Wayne (Angela) Compton of Pennsylvania; cousins and their families, Wanda (Frank) Weimar of St. Peter, David Ott of Madison Lake.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
