Jerome A. Jerry Maurer, age 64, of rural Lake Crystal, died Monday, January 2, 2006 at his home.
Funeral service 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal with Rev. Nancy Dreier officiating. Burial will be in Jerusalem Cemetery, Judson Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Friday.
Jerry was born December 26, 1941 to Arnold L. and Evelyn D. (McMahan) Maurer in Mankato. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1959. Jerry was united in marriage to Dorothy A. Karels at Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal on January 4, 1964. Jerry served his country with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. Jerry was a lifelong farmer in Judson Township and had served on the Judson Township Board for over 30 years. He was a member of the Lake Crystal American Legion Post 294 and Zion Lutheran Church. He loved farming and John Deere tractors, snowmobiling, boating, socializing with friends, traveling to northern Minnesota, and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Dot; three children, Michael Maurer and his wife, Jody of rural Lake Crystal, Timothy Maurer and his wife, Diana of Savage, Nan Larson and her husband, Josh of Eagan; six grandchildren, Kiana, Lane, Cade, and Brooke Maurer, Nyah and Kalyn Maurer; mother, Evelyn Maurer of Madelia; sister, Sharon Edberg and her husband, Gordon of Langley, WA; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1980.
