Beverly (Hoxie Roberts) Jones, age 82, of Lake Crystal, died Monday, January 2, 2006 at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at 1st Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal, with Rev. Randal Lubbers officiating. Private family burial will be held in Minneopa Cemetery. Fellowship gathering will be held 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday (TODAY) at 1st Presbyterian Church and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Bev was born on May 15, 1923 in Mankato. She was the daughter of Oscar and Ella (Maxfield) Hoxie. Bev was a 1941 graduate of Mankato High School, and attended Mankato Teachers College. She was united in marriage to Emrys Roberts on March 31, 1943 in Mankato. He passed away in 1967. Bev later married Wallace Jones on June 6, 1969 in Lake Crystal. Wallace passed away in 1976. Bev was a teacher for a short while in Judson, and was a homemaker for her family. She was a former member of Carmel Presbyterian Church in rural Lake Crystal, and currently a member of 1st Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal. She was very active in the church as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, youth choir director, and with the Presbyterian Women in the Church. Bev also was a past member of Jobs Daughters and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed visiting and corresponding with friends and family, sewing and crocheting, baking, and spending time at the lake.
Bev is survived by her seven children, Carol Roberts of Lake Crystal, Linda (Larry) Erdos of Lake Crystal, Nancy (Gary) Nickels of Mankato, Shirley (Dr. Scott) Helmers of Sibley, IA, Douglas (Ann) Jones of Lake Crystal, Judy (Dennis) Norman of Prior Lake, and Peggy (Dave) Moline of New London; one son-in-law, Gary More of Lake Crystal; seventeen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; many sisters and brothers-in-law; also nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Emrys and Wallace; two daughters, Barbie Lue and Pam; one grandson, Chadwick; one sister, Carol Pitts; and two brothers, Max and Bob.
