Violet E. Lentz, age 98 of Mankato, died Monday, January 02, 2006 at Mankato Lutheran Home.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday January 5, 2006 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Good Thunder, with Rev. Rudolph Maurer Jr. officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery in rural Rapidan. Visitation will be held from 4 " 7 p.m., Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary and continue one hour before services at the church on Thursday. Memorials maybe given to St. Johns Lutheran Church of Good Thunder, Mankato Lutheran Home, and Perpetual Care Fund of St. Johns Cemetery, Rapidan.
Violet E. Lentz was born December 27, 1907 to Emil and Elizabeth (Nitszke) Blume in Mankato. She was baptized in Jan. 1908 and confirmed April 9, 1922 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Good Thunder. Violet was united in marriage to Gordon B. Lentz September 22, 1926 at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder. She worked for Stan and Alice Jacobson in their truck-gardening business, Johnson Bakery, and MSU Laundry service. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, embroidering, gardening, and raising huckleberries.
Violet is survived by four sons and one daughter, Lester (Evelyn) Lentz of LeRoy, MN, Lawrence (Catherine) Lentz of Good Thunder, Harlan (Marilyn) Lentz of Good Thunder, Wilton (Marty) Lentz of Rochester, Vivian (Gene) Ziegler of Rapidan; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; sister, Irma (Ray) Brunz of North Mankato; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her, husband, Gordon in 1994; an infant son; grandson, Allen Lentz; great-grandson, Harland (Harley) Rippentrop; and her brother, William Blume.
