Edward C. Borchert, age 80, of Mankato, died Monday December 19, 2005 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 24, 2005 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. Ted Hottinger S.J. officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be held from 4 " 7 p.m., Friday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be given to VFW Post 950 or American Legion Post 11 of Mankato.
Edward was born June 21, 1925 to Roland and Anna Cleo (Grems) Borchert in Mapleton. He graduated from Mapleton High School in 1943. Ed worked for MNDOT as a highway technician, building roads, for 25 years retiring in 1990. He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, DAV Chapter 8, VFW Post 950, and American Legion Post 11 all of Mankato. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, cards, and curling.
Ed is survived by his six children, Kati Anderson of Minneapolis, Louise McKerrow and special friend, John Foede of Binghamton, NY, Janice (Mark) Ritter of Lake George, NY, Peggy (Bruce) Mews of San Jose, CA, Roger (Pat) Borchert, John Borchert all of Mapleton; two grandchildren, Todd Mittelstadt of Shakopee, MN, Patrick McKerrow of Salisbury, MD; 11 brothers and sisters, Neva (Karl) Butzer of Tucson, AZ, Helen Saunders of Highstown, NJ, Roland Bud (Virginia) Borchert of Grand Rapids, MN, Alice (Dick) Gohla of Sun City West, AZ, John Borchert of Rapid City, SD, Bill Borchert of Oakland, CA, Jerry (Colleen) Borchert of Santa Clara, CA, Tom (Patty) Borchert of Mankato, Betti Bertechi of Walnut Grove, MN, Peggy Naught of Midland, TX, Chuck Borchert of Odessa, TX; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dave and Joe Borchert.
