Kenneth Charles Tolzmann, age 74, of North Mankato, died Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Joel B. Erickson officiating. Burial will be in Belgrade Swedish Lutheran Cemetery, Belgrade Township, Nicollet County. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to service at church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
Kenneth was born on January 8, 1931, in Danville Township, Blue Earth County, to Edwin and Erna (Neitzel) Tolzmann. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean Era from May 14, 1952 to March 20,1954. He married Audrey Vulcan on September 28, 1958 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato, Minnesota. He was self employed with Ken-Ray Insulation and home construction and repair. For the past 14 years he was a volunteer driver for the Nicollet County Veterans Van. He was very active in the American Legion and other veterans groups. He was a life member and past officer of the Nicollet American Legion #510, Vice Commander, membership director and District Commander of the 3rd District American Legion. Ken served on the Minnesota American Legion Department 1st and 3rd as Vice Commander and as Past District and Department Employment Chairman. He was past Chef de Gare of Voiture 281 of the 40 and 8 of Mankato. Ken was a life member, past Commander, and Vice Commander, of the DAV Chapter 10 as well as serving as the Department Sergeant of Arms, a life member of the St. Peter VFW #1220 and had served on the Board of Trustees, a member of the Eagles Club of Mankato Aerie #269, a member of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association as well as assisting with the Nicollet Conservation Club gun training program. Ken was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and camping.
Ken is survived by his wife, Audrey Tolzmann of North Mankato; a son, Kim (Lisa) Tolzmann of Mankato, two grandchildren, Brittany and Dustin Tolzmann of Mankato; brother, Curt (Raleen) Tolzmann of Cleveland, MN; sister-in-law; Juanita Vulcan of North Mankato; two aunts; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends; honorary daughter, Ruth Klossner of Lafayette
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Raymond and Herbert Vulcan; and an honorary granddaughter, Tiffany Huynh
