George Frederick Francis age 69, of rural North Mankato, died Thursday, December 8, 2005 at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.
Memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2005 at Mankato Mortuary with Chaplain Gary Creech officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society or to an organization of the donors choice.
George Frederick Francis was born August 22, 1936 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Michael and Cleota (Sens) Francis. He attended Mankato High School and Mankato Vocational School. George served in the US Army from 1955-1959. On February 4, 1956, he was united in marriage to Kathy Reinbold in Spartanburg, SC.
George owned and operated Valley View Plumbing and Heating for 12 years and was a plumber for MSU. George was a member and a 10 year Sunday school teacher at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in North Mankato. He was a member of the Local 34 Plumbers Union, Akita Club of America, on the Board of Directors and member of the North Central Working Dogs Association. He loved nature and animals, motorcycling, model airplanes, and showing dogs.
George is survived by his wife, Kathy of rural North Mankato; daughter, Lisa Francis of Buffalo, MN; two brothers and their wives, Mike and Vicki Francis of Gurnee, IL, Nick and Margaret Francis of Minneapolis; nieces, Alysha and husband, Brian Fluno, Danya Francis, Erin Francis; nephew, Christopher Francis. George was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Katherine.
