Mae L (Anderson) Case

Mankato resident, Mae L. (Anderson) Case died Monday, November 28, 2005 at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Garden City Christian Church. Burial will be in Garden City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to American Association of University Women or United Way.

Mae was born December 18, 1908 to Emil and Alice (Urich) Anderson at Blairsburg, Iowa. She moved with her family to Garden City Township in 1918. She was graduated from Garden City Consolidated Schools in June 1925. She married Clayton C. Case of Vernon Center in August 1929. Mae attended Mankato State University and later was graduated from The George Washington University in Washington D.C. with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught for 20 years in Nottingham Elementary School in Arlington, Virginia. She was a lifetime member of the Parent Teachers Association of Virginia and the Retired Teachers Association of Virginia.

Upon returning to Mankato in 1971, she became a member of the Mankato Retired Educators Association, Mankato Senior Citizens organization, A.A.R.P., and the American Association of University Women.

Mrs. Case and family were charter members of the North Como Presbyterian Church in St. Paul, and the United Presbyterian Church in Arlington, Virginia.

Mrs. Case enjoyed reading, knitting, traveling, and sewing clothes for her family. Her passion was her family and she enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include a daughter, Sondra Larson of St. Louis, Missouri; son, Clayton Case and his wife, Cheryl of Newton, Iowa; a granddaughter, Nol Lefebure and her husband, Michael of Walford, Iowa; five great grandchildren, Brandon, Evan, Delaney Mae, Justin, and Campbell all of Walford, Iowa; a brother, Philip Anderson of St. Louis Park; three sisters, Nola Kelley of Mankato, Emma Baker of Sycamore, Illinois, Wilma Carlson and husband, Alton of Alexandria; many nieces and nephews. Mae was preceded in death by her husband in 1991; an infant son in 1940; grandson-in-law, Eric Hoffman; two brothers; and a sister.
