Sandra I Atkins

Sandra I. Atkins, age 60, of Mankato, died Thursday, November 24, 2005 at Hillcrest Health Care Center.

Memorial service 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 28, 2005 at Mankato Mortuary with Rev. Randal Lubbers, officiating. Visitation one hour before services at the mortuary.
Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Sandra was born December 18, 1944 to Edward and Marie L. (Fordahl) Johnson at Lignite, North Dakota. She graduated from Columbus High School, Columbus, North Dakota in 1962 and from Minot Business College, Minot. She was united in marriage to Robert Atkins on May 18, 1971 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Robert died November 27, 1995. She had been employed as a secretary for Texaco Corporation in North Dakota and Denver, Colorado from 1963 to 1971. Her family moved to Jackson, Mississippi where she then worked as a corporate planning secretary. She moved to Mankato in 1997. Sandra enjoyed bowling, fishing, computers, music, especially Elvis and Patsy Cline and her children.

Sandra is survived by two sons, Robert Atkins and William (Karen) Atkins all of Pearl, MS; eight siblings, Evelyn (Paul) Johnson of Sutton, AK, Darline Bakken of Lignite, ND, Joyce Farnsworth of Bismark, ND, Douglas Johnson of Williston, ND, Lenore Steffen of Mandan, ND, Lona (Ed) Griffiths of Cleveland, MN, Elaine (Alan) Griffiths of rural Lake Crystal, JoAnn (Charles) Jacobson of Oxbow, Saskatchewan, Canada; nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
