Bessie Mae Mornes, age 88, of Mankato died Sunday, November, 6 2005 at Oaklawn Health Center in Mankato.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 12, 2005 at First Presbyterian Church in Mankato, with Rev. Dawn Carder officiating. Private family burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donors choice. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.
Bessie was born on March 24, 1917, in Spencer, Iowa, to Harry and Mathilda (Tjossem) Lawrence. She graduated from Spencer High School. Bessie married Arthur Mornes on October 22, 1937 in Storm Lake, Iowa. She was employed by Northwestern Bell and the Mankato Citizens Telephone Company for 35 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star. Bessie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughters.
Bessie is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Daniel) Hanson of North Mankato; son, James (Joon) Mornes of Golden Valley; three grandchildren, Daniel (Inger) Hanson, Laura (Michael) Pietan, Erik (Jennie) Mornes; two great-granddaughters, Sophia Pietan and Sylvi Hanson; two nieces, Janet Emery and Arlene Young; one nephew, Charles (Carol) Emery; and great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur in 1991; and one sister, Irene Emery.
