Margaret Courts, age 84 of Mankato, died Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday at Bethel Baptist Church in Mankato with Pastor David Banfield officiating. Burial will be in Jeffers Cemetery in Jeffers, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 4 " 6 p.m., Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and continue one hour before services at the church on Friday. Memorials may be given to Bethel Baptist Church or Jeffers Baptist Church.
Margaret was born February 9, 1921 to Jacob and Della (Dunn) Courts in Waterloo, Iowa. She received a Masters in Elementary Education from Mankato State College and also studied abroad in Cambridge, England. Margaret taught elementary for over 40 years in Jeffers, Faribault and Mankato Schools. After her retirement, she was very active in Bethel Baptist Church where she volunteered her time in the daycare program, music department and served on various boards. She was a member of Bethel Baptist church in Mankato, the Garden Club, and Rose Society. She enjoyed gardening, music, art, sewing, quilting, traveling extensively, and her family.
Survived by four nephews, Dayle Courts of Corpus Christi, TX, John (Sheila) Courts, Harris, MN, Steven Courts of Cleveland, OH, Scott Courts of CO; sister-in-law, Jeanette Courts of Arvada, CO; many grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Anna Jo; two brothers, Howard and Frank.
