Dorothy G. Maurer, age 87 of Mankato, died Saturday, October 22, 2005 at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Paul A. Lauer officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4 " 7 p.m., Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be given to the donors choice.
Dorothy was born September 25, 1918 to Louis and Dorothea (Geiger) Schweim in Matawan, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Alvin J. Maurer on October 18, 1941 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato. She worked in retail sales in the area, and later owned and operated the Liquor Depot in Waseca from 1973 " 1983. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Mankato. Dorothy enjoyed yard and garden work, sewing, knitting, fishing, and her family.
Dorothy is survived by four children, Kathleen (Kenneth) Lenz of Waseca, Lois (Floyd) Palmer of Mankato, Alvin Maurer, Ronald D. (Linda) Maurer all of Willmar; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers Jerome (Terry) Schweim of Lakeville, Louis (Delores) Schweim of rural Mankato, Ardie (Barbara) Schweim of rural Janesville; sister-in-law, Ann Schweim of New Hope; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996; granddaughter, Leah Palmer; one sister, and three brothers.
