Elmer William Carl Riewe, age 84 of Lake Crystal, died Friday, October 21, 2005 at the Madelia Community Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal with Rev. Randal Lubbers officiating. Private family burial be in Minneopa Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 " 7 p.m., Monday at Lake Crystal Mortuary.
Elmer Riewe was born April 12, 1921 to William and Ida B. (Nenn) Riewe in McLeod County, Minnesota. He was united in marriage to M. Elizabeth Dackins on February 21, 1945 in Judson, Minnesota. Elmer served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 " 1946. He farmed in the Lake Crystal area until 1968 and then worked for Crystal Coop. from 1969 " 1986. Elmer worked part-time hauling U.S. Mail to Minneapolis, and produce for Anderson Farms. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal where he served as an elder and was on the building committee. He was a member of the John Roth American Legion Post 294 and a past member of the Lake Crystal Lions Club. Elmer enjoyed his family, fixing anything, and running his John Deere garden tractor.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Lake Crystal; six children, Ruth (Roman) Wendland of Farmington, Robert (Paige) Riewe of New Hope, Dennis (Diane) Riewe of Prior Lake, Mary Lou (Bill) Glenn of Fairbury, NE, Donald Riewe of Waseca, Paul Riewe of Lake Crystal; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
