MANKATO " Michael R. Howe, age 62 of Mankato, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011, at Central Health Care in Le Center.

Visitation will be held from 9 " 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 12 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Long Lake Lutheran Cemetery in St. James. A celebration of Mike's life will be at the American Legion in Mankato at 5:00 p.m. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Mike was born on March 8, 1948 to Lloyd and Mildred Howe in St. James. He was a Vietnam Veteran and Purple Heart Recipient. While attending school in Mankato, he began working at Mahowald's Hardware & Sporting Goods where he became Co-Owner. He was also a member of the American Legion and for the past several years had enjoyed working there. He was an avid golfer, pool player and enjoyed watching and talking about all sports.

Michael is survived by his son Trent and his wife Debra of Estero, FL and his daughter Tara of Fort Myers, FL, and his brother Jerry and his wife Maxine of Gibbon, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Mildred, bother Doug, and son Troy.
