Carol Ann Mamer, age 74, of Mankato, died Monday, January 3, 2011 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 6, 2011 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato, with Rev. Ted Hottinger officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday (TODAY) at North Mankato Mortuary " NORTHVIEW, with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mankato Loyola Softball, VINE, or the donor's choice.
Carol was born on November 5, 1936 in Mankato. She was the daughter of Robert and Lorraine (Guentzel) Borgmeier. Carol was a 1954 graduate of Loyola High School. She was united in marriage to Henry "Hank" Mamer Jr. on April 13, 1959 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Carol had previously been employed with SM Supply. She has since co-owned and assisted her husband with Hank's Service in Mankato. Carol was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Lady Jaycees, Caledonia Curling Club, Mankato Tennis Club, and 4-H. She was a great softball player who inspired her children how to play, and was proud of the fact that she had made an unassisted triple play in one inning. Carol also enjoyed taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, going out to eat, and helping the customers at Hank's Service.
Carol is survived by her husband, Hank; two sons, Randy (Lori) Mamer and Kevin Mamer; two grandchildren, Lindsay (Geoffrey) Rozek and Matthew Mamer; two great granddaughters, Emma and Bella Rozek; two sisters, Patty (Gordy) Lingbeck and Marion (Jim) Falkenhagen; one brother, Roger "Porky" (Pat) Borgmeier; two sisters-in-law, Colleen Borgmeier and Mary (Art) Mamer-Cox; three brothers-in-law, John (Cathy) Mamer, Lee (Arlene) Mamer, and Butch (Gloria) Mamer; one aunt, Florence (Ken) Hiniker; also nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barb Huffman; brother, David Borgmeier; brother-in-law, Don Huffman; and many aunts and uncles.
