Donald L. Frenzel Sr., age 85, of Mankato, died Friday, December 31, 2010 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Belgrade Avenue United Methodist Church in North Mankato, with Rev. Bart Fletcher officiating. Interment will be in Eagle Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Don was born November 17, 1925 in Mankato. He was the son of John and Ethel (Parrish) Frenzel. Don attended country school near Eagle Lake. He married Clara E. Charlesworth on September 25, 1946 at the Methodist Church of Eagle Lake. Don was employed as an automotive mechanic with various dealerships including Brakke Benzie and Snell Motors, retiring in 1990. He also helped his father farm for many years. Don was a past member of the Eagle Lake Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and working on cars.
Don is survived by his daughter, Judith (Steven) Johnson of Nicollet; three sons, Richard Frenzel of New Ulm, Roger (Phyllis) Frenzel of St. James, and Donald (JoDee) Frenzel, Jr. of Mankato; twelve grandchildren, Vanessa Petty, Darin Frenzel, Keith (Candice) Frenzel, Brian Frenzel, Tim Frenzel and his special friend, Leah Aust, Chad (Rachel) Johnson, Ross (Laura) Johnson, Lori (Darrin) Campbell, Brad (Nancy) Dewall, Curt Dewall, Jeremy Steffl and his special friend, Melissa Teply, and Bobby Jo Steffl; eighteen great grandchildren; and one nephew, Monty Frenzel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Clara in 2006; and one brother, Joe Frenzel.
