Raymond H. Doyen, age 95 of Good Thunder, died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the Mapleton Community Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 6, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Good Thunder, Minnesota with Rev. Brian Sutton officiating. Burial will be in Barnard Valley View Cemetery in Good Thunder. Visitation will be from 4 " 7 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Good Thunder and will continue one hour before the service on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Ray Doyen was born January 19, 1915 to Harmon and Reka (Rosenbaum) Doyen in Pomeroy, IA. His family moved to Minnesota in 1921. Ray was united in marriage to Ora Mae Lotton on August 28, 1951 at SS Peter and Paul Parish House in Mankato. They farmed and raised cattle and hogs in Lyra Township, Blue Earth Co. all of his working life.
Ray was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Good Thunder, Farmers Union, and NFO. He loved antique gas engines, auctions, John Deere Tractors, the LeSueur Swap Meet, visiting with friends and family. He loved telling stories about farming in the "old days". He was proud of his farm, proud of his faith, but most of all proud of his family. Ray especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ray is survived by his wife Ora Mae of Good Thunder; six children, Thomas (Mary Kay) Doyen of Good Thunder, Richard (Jayne) Doyen of Vernon Center, Mike (Karen) Doyen of Good Thunder, Mary (Gary) Barnard of Tenstrike, MN, Kevin (Jenny) Doyen of Truman, Ann (Kevin) Stiffler of West St. Paul; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette Pick of Mapleton, Helen Rose "Billie" Caven of Amboy; brother-in-law, Robert (Thelma) Lotton of Mankato; two sisters-in-law, Clara Lotton of Mankato, Naomi Lotton of Kelliher, MN; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lawrence; two sisters, Ancile Osmundson and Laura Witter.
