Thelma Irene Asche, age 83, of Mankato, died Friday, December 31, 2010 at St. Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter.

Memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Crossview Covenant Church in North Mankato, with Rev. Kevin Melin officiating. A time of refreshments will follow the service at the church. Burial will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Memorials are preferred to Crossview Covenant Church and the Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Thelma was born July 21, 1927 in Floodwood, MN to John and Hilda Hannula. She graduated from Floodwood High in 1945 graduated from the Charles T. Miller Hospital School of X-ray Technology. Thelma was united in marriage to Lee Asche in South St. Paul on August 16, 1947. She worked in St. Paul from 47' to 53' and then moved to Freeborn. Thelma worked as an X-ray technician at the Albert Lee Medical and Surgical Center until 1958. In 1959 they moved to Mankato to stay. She joined the Evangelical Covenant church in 1970 and served as a deaconess at the Covenant Church. Thelma enjoyed the great outdoors and most of all her family.

Thelma is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lee Asche of Mankato.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and four sisters.
