Kermit L. Dahl, age 96, of Mankato, died Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Oaklawn Health Care in Mankato.
Private family memorial services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army or Habitat for Humanity. Mankato Mortuary assisted with the arrangements.
Kermit was born on August 24, 1914 in Plummer, MN. He was the son of George and Kaia (Rogen) Dahl. Kermit was a graduate of Coleraine High School and Itasca Jr. College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946 during WWII as an x-ray technician at the 91st General Hospital. Kermit later served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1952 in Germany. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Campbell on June 27, 1947 in Laramie, WY. Kermit was employed for 24 years at the Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, CO. He and Phyllis came to Mankato in 1974. Kermit was employed with St. Joseph's Hospital, Immanuel Hospital, and the MSU Health Service. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mankato and enjoyed playing trumpet and doing handiwork.
Kermit is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Phyllis of Mankato; two sons, James Dahl of Aurora, CO and Gerald Dahl of Evergreen, CO; two daughters, Carol (John) Marston of Mankato and Diane (Dan) Burke of Burnaby, B.C.; one sister, Evalyn Thompson of Rochester; one brother, James Dahl of Scottsdale, AZ; also several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and two brothers.
