Brad M. Ripley, age 44, of Mankato, died November 23, 2008, in Olivia, Minnesota as the result of a semi-truck accident.
A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Mankato Mortuary in Mankato. Visitation will be Friday, December 5, 2008 from 4 to 7 P.M. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Brad was born November 7, 1964 in Winnebago to Dale and Shirley (Walker) Ripley and was raised on a farm outside of Winnebago near Bass Lake. During high school Brad was active in band, choir, wrestling, FFA and had a part in a local Winnebago production of Oklahoma. He graduated from Winnebago High School in 1983 and later from Mankato Vo-Tech for auto and semi repair. Growing up he was a member of Bass Lake Church and Bass Lake 4-H club in which he showed sheep, goats, swine, bantams, dog, ect. at the Faribault County Fair. He showed sheep with family at several county fairs and the Minnesota State Fair every year from birth until the mid-1980's. Brad also helped friend Jay Moses show sheep at the Minnesota State Fair until August of 2008. Brad lived in or around Mankato from 1983 to 2008. He worked for River Valley Truck Center in Mankato; was a co-owner of Mapleton Automotive; had a private snowplowing business; did trucking for Glen Huber; and also did landscaping in Mankato.
Brad enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson around town and riding 3-wheelers and snowmobiling. He took yearly trips to Sturgis, SD as well as several other motorcycle trips. Brad enjoyed visiting with friends and family. He also enjoyed attending and cruising at the Back to the Fifties weekend in the Twin Cities; attending the Minnesota State Fair every year; fixing and customizing his vehicles, home and outbuildings.
He is survived by his four siblings and their families: Brian Ripley (Kaitlin, Daniel and Erin) of Erie, PA; Brent Ripley and his wife, Vicky (Ana Paula) of Torreon, Mexico; Lisa Ripley of St. Paul; Andrew Ripley of Bloomington, IN.
Brad is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Harold and Marie Walker and Jay and Irene Ripley.
