Kevin Paul Wendt, age 23, of Mankato, died Friday, November 21, 2008 at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2008 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Joel Erickson officiating. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. on Sunday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Kevin was born on February 1, 1985 in Mankato. He was the son of Larry and Pamela (Southerland) Wendt. Kevin was a 2003 graduate of Mankato West High School. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and had been employed with Alltel for the past three years. Kevin was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, playing hockey, and snowboarding. Kevin loved spending time with his family. He had a unique sense of humor that allowed him to make friends easily and a personality that allowed him to keep them close indefinitely.

Kevin is survived by his parents, Larry and Pamela Wendt of Mankato; three brothers, Charles (Maria) Wendt of Waldorf, Jon (Barbara) Wendt of Houston, TX, and Eric (Jennifer) Wendt of Lake Crystal; grandmothers, Eleanor Weber of Fort Atkinson, WI and Jane Southerland of Longview, TX; one niece, Alexandra Wendt; two nephews, Avery and Collin Wendt; several aunts and uncles; fianc"e, Tara Goebel of Mankato; close friends, Justin (Kaitlin) Treml, Ryan Vetter, Christopher Lowe, and Joel "Dino" Duenow; and his canine companion, "Kera".

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Herbert Wendt and Toy Southerland; and one uncle, Nevil Southerland.
