Peder P. Kosberg, age 87, of Mankato, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
A Celebration of Peder's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Hosanna Lutheran Church, Mankato. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m., Monday, January 3, at the church. Private burial with military honors will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Peder was born April 14, 1923 to Peter Hans and Pearl Mabel (Christianson) Kosberg in Hendricks, MN. He graduated from Hendricks High School. Peder served his country with the U.S. Army from 1943-46 during WWII and was stationed in the South Pacific. He married Evelyn Josaas on March 24, 1943 in Hendricks. Peder was employed as an Insurance Representative for Aid Association for Lutherans (Thrivent) for over 24 years. Peder was a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church, a former long-time member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, a member of the VFW, and was active as board member and president of the board of Realife Cooperative. He loved to travel with Evelyn and they spent many years living and traveling in their motor home . He also enjoyed spending time with his family, was proud of his Norwegian heritage, and attended many lutefisk dinners.
Peder is survived by five children, Rev. Charles (Beth) Kosberg of Tallahassee, FL, Rev. Jerry (Jan) Kosberg of Phoenix, AZ, Rev. Steve (Mary) Kosberg of Seoul, South Korea, Deaconess Karen Kosberg (Rev. Dwight Anderson) of Fort Wayne, IN; Rev. Kevin (Jennet) Kosberg of Anthem, AZ; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; three sisters, Anne Rockman and Lillian Folkerts both of Marshall and Joyce English of Anchorage, AK; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Peder was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn on March 24, 2000; two brothers, and a sister.
Memorials may be made to Hosanna Lutheran Church, Pathstone Living or Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospice.
