Jerry Burns, age 79 of Lake Washington, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Immanuel " St. Joseph's Hospital with his family by his side.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Paul Lauer officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held at North Mankato Mortuary " NORTHVIEW Chapel 2060 Commerce Drive in North Mankato from 4 " 7 p.m., Friday and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.

Jerry was born February 20, 1931 to Frank and Martha (Perl) Burns in Grand Rapids, MI. He graduated from Fairmont High School and later graduated from Mankato State College on a full golf scholarship with a teaching degree. Jerry worked as an appraiser and in real estate for over 40 years in southern Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Norma on August 17, 1985 at their home at Lake Washington.

Jerry was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and a former member of the New Ulm Lion's Club. He enjoyed dancing, family trips, Gopher Football, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; daughters, Beth Burns and her children, Andrea, Nicole and her son Jack, Desiree; Julie (Doug) Anderson and their children, Jeremy, Jennifer; step-children, Scott Carlson and his son Sawyer; Melissa (Rickie) Ristau and their children, Annie, Angel; John (Jean) Sevcik and their children, Tyler, Nicole. Preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Jean and Nancy.

Jerry touched the lives of all who knew him. He was a unique, loving and wonderful man and will be missed by all. The family would like a special thanks goes out to Dr. Stanley, Dr. Piroso, nurses, Amelia, Lisa, Tana, and the staff at ISJ in Mankato.
