Harvey H. Kottke, age 90 of Fort Myers, FL, went to be with the Lord Monday, November 22, 2010 at Heartland Health Care Center of Fort Myers, FL.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Hillside Church in Mankato. Harvey H. Kottke will be laid to rest at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Harvey was born May 5, 1920 to Fred and Lydia (Born) Kottke in Bellingham, MN. He had a twin brother that died at birth. When he was an infant, they moved to Waseca, MN, where he resided on a farm until of working age. He then moved to North Mankato, MN. There he worked for Allied Gas Company, then for Skelly Oil Company. He always tried to improve his education and job status. His final job was as a District Sales Manager for Gilmer Monument Works out of Howard Lake, MN. He was very successful with that job, retiring as Vice President of Sales at Gilmer.
He married Della Pedersen, a beautician, and they lived in North Mankato where seven lively children were born. They lived at Jefferson Avenue for over 40 years and upon retiring, they moved to upper Mankato after selling their home. They lived in a rental apartment for 10 years after deciding to move to North Fort Myers, Florida, to their condo.
He was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church in North Fort Myers, Fl. He led a wonderful life, he loved people and above all, he loved God.
Harvey is survived by his wife of 63 years, Della; two sons, Konrad (Bonnie) Kottke of Rapid, SD, Richard (Dawn) Kottke of Lake Crystal, MN; four daughters, Linda (Steve) Wilson of North Mankato, Debra (Chuck) Baack of Fort Myers, FL, Robyn (Wayne) Kaul of W. Inver grove Heights, MN, and Cindy (Mark) Durmisevich of Colton, CA; He was blessed by 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He also is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Doolittle of Pendleton, Oregon, and Carol Mills of Sioux Falls, SD.
He was preceded in death by his son, LeRoy Kottke, who died from cancer 30 years ago, his parents, another infant brother, brother, Donald Kottke, brother Bernie Kottke, and sister Lois Mengel.
