Robert E. Laird, age 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 22, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 27, 2010 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Mankato with Rev. Gary Wong officiating. Burial will be in Minneopa Cemetery, rural Mankato. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday at Landkamer - Johnson-Boman Funeral Home in Mankato. Visitation also continues one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Robert Laird was born November 22, 1936 in Garden City to James and Gertrude (McBeth) Laird. For most of his life he was self-employed with the family business, and later finished his working years as a truck driver. His passion was his truck. He was received into heaven on his 74th birthday.

Robert is survived by his wife, Merle; daughter Sandra (Lee) Borden; four sons, Steven (Cathy) Laird, Rick Laird, Kevin (Beth) Laird, Tony Laird; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters, and his grandson.
