Beloved wife and mother, Ruth Ross Carey, age 87, died Thursday, September 15, 2005 at the Mankato Lutheran Home. Funeral Services Tuesday, September 20, at 11:00 A.M. at Centenary United Methodist Church in Mankato. Visitation will be 4-6:30 P.M. on Monday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Memorials would be appreciated to Centenary United Methodist Church.
Ruth was born in Doon, Iowa and raised in Iowa and Minnesota. She graduated from Hanley Falls High School as valedictorian, and later from Hamline University with a degree in economics. Her great passions were music, theater, bird watching and as a hospital and church volunteer. Ruth greatly enjoyed a good hand of bridge, and with her late husband of 62 years, Glenn, held a hospitable open house for everyone in their neighborhood.
Ruth is survived by three children, Janet (Neil) Dieterich, Jane Carey, and Patrick Carey; also two grandchildren, Nathan and Nicholas Dieterich. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Stella (Ross) Visser and her husband, Glenn Carey.
