Nadine Andreas, age 82, of Mankato, died Thursday morning, September 1, 2005 at her home.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Mankato with Rev. Greg Lawrence a Pastor from Christ Church, Presbyterian Church in America in Mankato, officiating. Private burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. There will be a time to visit immediately following the service in the Banquet Hall at the Midwest Wireless Center. Memorials are preferred to the Andreas Cancer Center at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.
Nadine Betty Hamilton was born October 26, 1922 in Iowa City, Iowa. She graduated from West Liberty High School in Iowa and was a member of the Lyceum Theatre group at the University of Minnesota. Nadine worked as a dental aide prior to her marriage. She was united in marriage to Lowell Willard Andreas on May 30, 1943 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They moved to Mankato in 1947 and have also maintained residences in Naples, Florida and Grand Cayman Island.
Nadine attended Christ Church, Presbyterian Church in America in Mankato and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Naples.
Nadine and her family have enriched many community lives through the continued support of the theatre and other educational departments at Minnesota State University. Nadine was devoted to the young and underprivileged by providing the Nadine Andreas Childrens Home and Orphanage and the Miss Nadines Day Care in Grand Cayman. She loved traveling, theatre, and children, but her true passion was her family.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Pearl Applegate, and her daughter, Pamela Andreas Lee Stisser.
Nadine is survived by her husband, Lowell of Mankato; son, David Andreas and his wife, Debra of Golden Valley; five grandchildren, Andreas Lee and his wife, Laura, Cayman Lee Campbell and her husband, Casey, Jason Delane Lee, Genevieve Andreas, and Jacob Andreas; three great-grandchildren, Charlotte Lee, Lucy Campbell and Sadie Campbell; brother-in-law, Dwayne Andreas and his wife, Inez of Decatur, IL; many nephews and nieces.
