Norbert Buck Bachmeyer, age 88, of Mankato died Thursday, August 25, 2005 at Oaklawn Health Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Cemetery Chapel, Mankato, with Rev. Karl Voelker S. J. officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel on Saturday. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Norbert was born on August 19, 1917, in Mankato, Minnesota, to John and Katherine (Schaack) Bachmeyer. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942-1945 in Germany, France and the Aleutian Islands. Upon his return home he worked at ADM for 36 years until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed driving out to Las Vegas.
He is survived by two brothers, Lawrence Bachmeyer of Rockford, Illinois, Clement Bachmeyer and his wife Linda of Mankato; two sisters, Marcella Sally Benning of Mankato, Geraldine Althoff-Craig and her husband Ted of Bella Vista, Arkansas; sister-in-law Marion Bachmeyer of Mankato; and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Gilbert, Raymond, Walter, and Norman; and two sisters, Pauline Heiser and Catherine Pierce.
