Former stamp dealer, Gerald John Preston, age 78, of Madison Lake died Tuesday, August, 23, 2005 at Immanuel St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato, MN.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Eagle Lake Church of Christ with Rev. Jeff M. Peterson officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Medo-McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at the church on Friday.
Gerald was born on February 11, 1927, near St. Clair to John and Hazle (Danner) Preston. He graduated from St. Clair High School and served in the US Navy. He later returned home to farm and attended vocational school for electric, radio and TV repair. Gerald married Mary Alice Merritt in 1953. He owned and operated a TV sales and service business in Eagle Lake and had worked for other various electronic businesses until his retirement in the early 1990s. Gerald was a member of the Eagle Lake Church of Christ and also the National Stamp Society. He enjoyed cameras, computers, stamps and photography.
Survived by son, Lyle (Jeanne) Preston of Owatonna; daughter, Beverly Herrick of Madison Lake; son, Russell Preston of Mantorville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Phyllis Preston of Kenosha, WI; and many aunts, nieces and nephews.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Alice in 1986; three siblings; son, Jesse; and an infant son in 1953.
