Clifford Melvin Rudolph, age 85, of Mankato died Friday, August 19, 2005 at Hillcrest Health Care Center.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, rural Mankato, with Rev. David Danner officiating. Burial will be in Decoria Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before services at church on Wednesday. Memorials may be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Clifford was born May 14, 1920 to Frederick and Della (Schlossin) Rudolph in Medo Township, Blue Earth County. He attended school in Pemberton. He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II from 1942-1945 with the 18th Field Artillery in Normandy and at the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium. Clifford received the Purple Heart. He also assisted with the release and transfer of European captives from concentration camps to the Russian sector on the Elbe River. Clifford was united in marriage to Violet Herzberg on April 14, 1955 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Clifford farmed for many years in Medo Township. He enjoyed reading newspapers, traveling, attending military reunions, and visiting with friends and family.
Clifford is survived by his son, Marlon Rudolph and wife, Audrey; granddaughter, Melissa Rudolph all of Pemberton; two sisters, Elenora Davis of Austin, Lillia Hawker and husband, Lyle of Mankato; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Violet in 1983.
