John Jones Griffiths

John Jones Griffiths, age 95, of Mankato and formerly of Lake Crystal, died Monday, August 15, 2005 at Laurels Edge Assisted Living in Mankato.

Funeral service 10:30 Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal with Rev. Randal Lubbers officiating. Burial in Minneopa Cemetery. Visitation from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and continues one hour before service at church on Thursday.

John was born February 4, 1910 to Edward R. and Alice J. (Jones) Griffiths in Cambria Township, Blue Earth County. He attended Carmel School, rural Lake Crystal and Mankato High School. John was united in marriage to Mildred P. Othoudt on December 5, 1939 in Lake Crystal and they farmed in Judson Township for many years. John had belonged to Carmel Presbyterian Church, rural Lake Crystal where he was an elder for several years and later transferred to the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Crystal. He enjoyed farming, gardening, and traveling.

John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mildred; three children, Edward R. (Lona) Griffiths of rural Cleveland, Jane Griffiths of Mankato, Alan J. (Elaine) Griffiths of rural Lake Crystal; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by three brothers, Willis, Elvin Tudor , and Gwesyn.
