Barbara Ann Berkner, age 72, of Mankato, died Sunday, August 7, 2005 at Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church with Rev. John Wilmot officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service.
Barbara was born January 14, 1933 in Mankato to Walter and Florence (Donahue) Cords. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Richard H. Berkner on September 24, 1960 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Mankato. Barbara was a homemaker for her family and was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. She loved knitting, quilting, painting and spent many hours making beautiful things for her family. She also loved collecting antiques and was an avid reader.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Berkner of Mankato; four children, Scott Berkner of Hilton Head, SC, Brian Berkner of Mankato, Garry (Jen) Berkner of Cannon Falls, Staci (Jim) Smith of Cannon Falls; six grandchildren, Caitlyn and Caleb Smith, Shayla, Cory, and Lexi Berkner, Evan Berkner; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Bill and Fred Cords, and a sister, Viva Marie.
