Glenn Ralph Preston, age 81 of Lake Crystal, died Sunday, August 7, 2005 at Immanuel St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 11, 2005 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal, with Rev. Nancy Dreier officiating. Burial will be in Medo-McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Wednesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, or to the donors choice.
Glenn was born on November 11, 1923 in McPherson Township, Blue Earth County. He was the son of Ralph and Eleanora (Albrecht) Preston. Glenn was a 1942 graduate of Pemberton High School, and later attended the University of Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946 in the Pacific Theater and the occupative force in Japan. Glenn was united in marriage to Doris Stevens on October 11, 1952 at Bingham Lake Methodist Church. He farmed for most of his life. Glenn was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal, the Lake Crystal Lions, and Lake Crystal American Legion Post 294. He enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards, and spending time with his family.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Doris of Lake Crystal; four children, Miles Preston of North Mankato, Norman (Koni) Preston of Mapleton, Steven Preston of Eagan, Karen (Bob) Rezin of Tomah, WI; four grandchildren, Marcus and Danielle Preston, Nicole and Kristen Rezin; one brother, Earl Preston and his special friend, Monica Fritz of Mapleton; one sister-in-law, Patricia Keller of Mankato; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Marvin.
