Charles Ward, age 86, of rural Mapleton died Saturday, July 30, 2005 at his home.

Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at Grace Baptist Church in Mankato with Rev. John Michel officiating. Burial will be in Medo-McPherson Cemetery, Medo Township, Blue Earth County. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary and continues one hour before services at church on Wednesday. Memorials may be given to Medo-McPherson Cemetery, Grace Baptist Church, or ISJ Hospice Program.

Charles was born August 6, 1918 to Charlie H. and Charlotte A. (Brazier) Ward in Medo Township, Blue Earth County. He graduated from St. Clair High School in 1935. Charles married Norma Turek on November 20, 1948 in LeCenter. He served his country with the U. S. Army in the South Pacific during WWII. Charles was a lifetime farmer in Beauford Township. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Charles is survived by two sons, Steve Ward and wife, Terri of rural St. Peter, Brian Ward and wife, Darla of rural Mapleton; two daughters, Kathleen Karpinsky and husband, Adrian of rural Mapleton, Mary Ward of Prescott, AZ; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Warren Ward of rural Pemberton, Jack Ward and wife, Nedra of rural St. Clair, Delbert Pierce and wife, Faye of South Carolina; sister, Janet Bollmann and husband, John of Sacramento, CA; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Ward of Mankato, Evelyn Kassube and husband, Vincent of Maplewood; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma on September 27, 2001; two sisters, Beth and Helen; brother, Elwyn.
