Allen T Kjos

Allen T. Kjos, age 86, of North Mankato, formerly of Lake Crystal, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.

Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m., Friday, October 31, 2008 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. John Petersen officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the donor's choice. Mankato Mortuary is handling the arrangements. 507-388-2202

Al was born on February 25, 1922 in Rushford. He was the son of Ed and Olive (Tagland) Kjos. Al was a 1940 graduate of Rushford High School. He was a farmer and dairyman in Rushford until 1948. Al was employed in 1951 with Armour Ag Chemicals in Winona. The company was sold to USS Ag Chemical in 1962 and Al was with them until his retirement in 1982. He later sold real estate until 1994. He enjoyed music and singing in various choral groups, including the Lakeland Choralaires Barbershop Chorus. Al was a member and past president of the Windom Concert Association, Windom and Mankato Shrine Clubs. He was a member of Lake Crystal Presbyterian Church, Windom and Lake Crystal Masonic Lodges, Lake Crystal Planning Commission, Zurah Temple Shrine in Minneapolis, and the Osmun Temple Shrine in St. Paul. He had a special place in his heart for the children of LCWM, and participated in the Grandparent Volunteer program.

Al is survived by his daughter, Konnie George Brueck and her husband, Tom of Le Sueur; step-daughter, Debra (Roger) Haar of Westbrook; step-son, Doug Silliman of Odin; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; Mae's children, Norma (Jim) Driver, Bonnie Hughes, and Shirley (Lance) Selzer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Elayne, Jean and Mae; and two sisters.
