Alice Dilcher, age 80 of Mapleton died Sunday, October 26, 2008 at the Mapleton Community Home.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in North Mankato. Bishop Kevin Cragun will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Mapleton at 2:00 P.M., Thursday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of services.
Alice Elizabeth was born July 28, 1928 at home near Blue Earth, MN. In January of 1933, her parents, Julius and Martha (Martin) Prescher, and her siblings moved to rural Wells, where she attended the Dunbar Township Country School for eight years. She was a 1947 graduate of Pemberton High School and graduated from business school in Mason City, Iowa. Alice worked for Standard Oil Co.
Alice faithfully provided kind loving care to the elderly for many years. She also served family members during difficult periods in their lives. Alice married Robert Dilcher on December 5, 1992 and was later divorced in 2003.
Alice enjoyed traveling, reading, dancing, music, and birds. She had a great love for her nieces and nephews and enjoyed spending time with them. Alice was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had several callings in the church.
Survivors include her siblings, Shirley Ann Eckart of Mapleton, Elinore Possin of Hartland, Marian Nagel of North Mankato, Herbert (Jan) Prescher of New Richland, and Robert (Lorrie) Prescher of Mapleton; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Roscoe, Evertt, Harold, Adrian, and Victor, and two sisters, Janette and Dorothy.
