Garden City native, Myrtle Lucille (Taylor) Cox, age 82, of Omaha died October 2, 2008 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 10, 2008 at the Garden City Christian Church, the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Garden City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church on Friday. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or Garden City Christian Church.
Myrtle was born November 3, 1925, to Carleton and Verna (Skates) Taylor at Amboy, MN. She worked for the Federal Government in Washington, D.C., after graduating from commercial college. She married Darrell Cox in Garden City on June 5, 1946. They moved to Omaha in 1956. As a homemaker, she raised two sons, was active in the First Christian Church of Omaha, and an interdenominational group, Church Women United.
Myrtle is survived by two sons and their wives, Theodore Cox and Patricia Ring, and Charles and Krista, all of Omaha; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, LaVaugn "Bill" Taylor and his wife, Phyllis of Fountain Hills, AZ; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrell in 1996; two brothers and one sister.
