David R. Wittrock, age 65 of Lake Washington, died Friday, September 19, 2008 in Mankato after a brief illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2008 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Syl Brown officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday with a 4 p.m. prayer service at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the church service at the church on Monday.
David was born on February 2, 1943 in Mankato, Minnesota. He attended school in Mankato and was a 1961 graduate of Mankato High School. He served in the Army National Guard from 1960 until 1966. On February 6, 1965 he was united in marriage to Sandra R. Gleisner in St. George, Minnesota. He was employed by Cargill from 1966 until his retirement in 2002, first in the Mankato area and the last 20 years in the Fargo-Moorhead area. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors, being with his dogs, and the lake, which was his "heaven on earth".
David is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandy Wittrock of Lake Washington; five children, Kristine (Hans) Christen of Knoxville, TN; Mark (Mary Cobb) Wittrock of Herndon, VA; Lori (Taivo) Sakk of Madison, WI; Michael (Rachel) Wittrock of Omaha, NE; and Tiana (Ryan) Martin of Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren, McKenna and Morgan Wittrock, Mihkel and Aliena Sakk, and Ava Wittrock; one brother; many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by a son, Steven, in 1968; one sister; and his parents.
