Raymond John Moeri, age 92, of rural Mankato died, Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Mankato with Rev. Wayne Eichstadt officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before the service at church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran School Endowment Fund.
Raymond was born April 21, 1916 to Jacob and Alma (Wirsing) Moeri in Lime Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. Raymond served in the U.S. Army during World War II for three years, three months, and three days, two years of which he was stationed in the European Theatre in the 65th Medical Regiment. He was united in Marriage to Doris Johnson on June 8, 1952 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Mankato. Raymond farmed most of his life in Lime Township. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he was an active member of many boards and committees. Raymond enjoyed his family, farming, traveling, and will be remembered for greeting people with a hand shake and a big smile.
Ray was loved and will be greatly missed by his wife, Doris of rural Mankato; three children, Joan Moeri Johnson of Georgetown, TX, LuAnn Friedrichs and husband, Karl, and Kevin Moeri all of rural Mankato; four grandchildren, Glenn Johnson, Kate, Mackenzie, and Meredith Friedrichs; four sisters-in-law, Agnes Moeri of St. Peter, Jean Moeri and Elaine Dietl both of Mankato, Dorothy Johnson of Maple Grove; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter; twin brother, Marvin; brother, Earl; and an infant sister.
