Edward "Ed" Daufenbach, age 80 of Mankato, died September 9, 2008 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Don Rauscher, S.J. officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospice Program or to an organization of the donor's choice.
Edward William Daufenbach was born September 25, 1927 in Mankato to William and Marie (Lenertz) Daufenbach. After graduating from Loyola High School, he entered the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1946. On December 12, 1953, he was united in marriage to Millie Ferris at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. They made their home in Mankato, where they raised their two children, Mike and Ann. Ed was a self-employed road contractor for over 65 years, working in the Blue Earth County area.
Ed was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Order of Foresters, and Knights of Columbus. He was a former member of American Legion Post 11 in Mankato and was a current member of American Legion Post 617 in Eagle Lake. Ed enjoyed woodworking and welding, ice fishing, deer hunting, and gardening, but nothing compared to the enjoyment of driving his truck all over the county.
Ed is survived by his wife, Millie of Mankato; son, Mike Daufenbach and his wife, Amy of Mankato; daughter, Ann Seitzer and her husband, Peter of St. Peter; four grandsons, Joe and Sam Daufenbach, Matthew and Nicholas Seitzer; sister-in-law, Elizabeth "Defe" Allen of Mankato; brother-in-law, Lewis "Boot" Ferris of Minneapolis; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and William; stepmother, Marianne (Maloney) Daufenbach; brother, William Jr.; and a sister, Mary Anderson.
