Irene Theresa Ziegler, age 99 of rural Good Thunder, died Thursday, September 4, 2008 just three days short of her 100th birthday at Pathstone Living Community in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 6, 2008 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Good Thunder with Rev. Brian Sutton officiating. Burial will be in Decoria Cemetery, rural Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Friday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to St. Joseph's Catholic Church or to an organization of the donor's choice.
Irene was born on September 7, 1908 in Cass County, MN to William and Mathilda (Rogers) Egan. She attended Motley Rural School. She was united in marriage to Ervin Ziegler on September 7, 1933 in Mankato. Irene was a farmwife all of her life. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Good Thunder where she was active in the CCW. She enjoyed cooking, baking "best cookies", quilting, old time dancing, and bingo.
She is survived by a daughter, Jo Ann Hoehn and her husband William of rural Good Thunder; son-in-law, Richard Gens of rural Good Thunder; five grandchildren, Shari (Larry) Miller of Mankato, Steve (Lisa) Hoehn of Good Thunder, Jeff (Dawn) Gens of Nicollet, Vicky (Tracy) David of Montgomery, and Jodi Hefner of New Ulm; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law: Inez Shaw and Delores Schonrock both of Mapleton; 2 brothers-in-law: John (Laverta) Ziegler of Bruno and Claude Ziegler of Mankato; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; daughter, Kathryn "Katy" Gens; great-granddaughter; parents; four brothers; and four sisters.
