Velna A. (Schuetz) Lieske, age 90, of Mankato died Thursday, July 14, 2005 at Mankato House Health Care Center.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2005 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato with Rev. Donohue Sarff officiating. Burial in Brown Cemetery, Henderson, MN. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before services at church on Monday. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Velna was born May 3, 1915 to Albert T. and Emma (Brede) Trapp in Charlestown Township, Redwood County, MN. She grew up in the Evan area and worked as a nanny until her marriage to Raymond F. Schuetz on September 26, 1945 at St. Pauls Ev. Lutheran Church in Hector. Raymond died November 20, 1966. She married Herbert H. Lieske on June 21, 1975 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls, Mn. Herbert died May 16, 1987. Velna was a homemaker and farm wife and was active in Home Extension Clubs while on the farm. Velna was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and a former member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Arlington. She enjoyed work, sewing, cooking, and gardening.
Velna is survived by her son, Dennis Schuetz and his wife, Kathleen; two grandchildren, Chris Schuetz, Jennifer Brown and her husband, Andy all of Mankato; sister, Ardis Schiro of Willmar; one niece; one nephew; two step-daughters.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; sister, Edna; and a step-daughter.
